Your Home Aquarium Tips
Cloudy Fish Tank Water
So you say you just set up your fish tank and you checked the water ph and removed the chlorine and washed the gravel and rinsed the decorations and here you are, with cloudy fish tank water. What happened?
Well don’t panic. There are several reasons for cloudy fish tank water and none are usually all that serious. The first is that the tank just hasn’t cycled completely. All that means i
s that you should run your filter do regular maintenance and just wait. Keep your tank aerated and filtered and do water normal water changes and all will be ok. In some cases it happens in no time at all.
You could treat your tank with water clarifiers but you could find out that although they will clear your tank, the effect may be temporary. In some cases the chemicals put in the tank can actually make the situation worse. When all is said and done, you will be better off just giving it time. It will clear up on its own as long as you keep up with maintenance.
There is on other cause that I had a problem with and I should mention it. Only use aquarium safe decorations and rinse them with cool water before adding them to the tank. I found out that some items that would look just great in the fish tank actually can dissolve in the water and cause a big cloudy fish tank water problem. So make sure your background items are safe to add to the aquarium so you don’t end up with cloudy fish tank water.
